October comes around just once a year and of course for all of us who enjoy Fancy Dress, Halloween is the perfect occasion to find your scariest costume and have fun. Children and adults all over the world enjoy Halloween. For young adults such as students, it is a great excuse to have a party. In fact most of the time students don’t need any excuse but Halloween certainly provides one. Decorating your flat in Halloween Decorations and getting into the Halloween spirit by finding a great Halloween Costume is just part of the fun. Halloween is one of the most popular times of the year for students. As student unions and bars organise parties, students across the UK dress up as various characters that can be either terrifying or funny. A large group of students could follow a theme so that when they walk into a pub or a nightclub, they all look the same. So, what Halloween Costumes are there for students to wear?
Back to the Future
The 1985 movie ‘Back to the Future’ is loved by people of all ages and students can dress as various characters from it. Along with Marty McFly who has a red jacket which is often mistaken in the film for being a life preserver, students can also dress as Doc Brown and Biff Tannen.
Baywatch
The TV series ‘Baywatch’ has inspired fancy dress costumes for years. Students can purchase red shorts, swimsuits and fake chest hair so that they look like Mitch Buchanan who was played by David Hasselhoff. As ‘Baywatch’ is a popular theme, a fancy dress retailer typically has various costumes in many different sizes.
Smurfs
As with ‘Baywatch’, ‘The Smurfs’ is another widely chosen fancy dress theme for students, largely because it is easy to recreate. To look like a Smurf, apply blue body paint. For female students, they can wear a white dress and a white hat. Male students could don a false white beard and a red hat to look like Pappa Smurf who is one of the most popular characters from the cartoon. When a large group of students dress as Smurfs, they’ll look hilarious, in particular if a Pappa Smurf and Smurfette costume is worn.
The Village People
The Village People can be the inspiration for fancy dress costumes. As their songs are still played in clubs, students across the UK know the dance to ‘YMCA’ which was one of their biggest hits. A large group of students could each dress as individual members of the Village People. As well as a cowboy, Native American, biker and soldier, a police officer and a construction worker outfit can be purchased. When a large group of students dress as each member of the Village People, they’ll look very funny.
Scooby-Doo
Along with Scooby and Shaggy, students can also pick a Velma, Fred and Daphne costume. If another costume is required, choose Scrappy-Doo. As there are several characters in ‘Scooby-Doo’, it should only really be chosen by large groups of students.
Slasher movie killers
Countless slasher movies have been released since the late 1970’s. ‘Halloween’, ‘Friday the 13th’ and ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ are popular slasher movies and so too are ‘The Evil Dead’ and ‘Child’s Play’. The serial killers who murder teenagers and adults alike can be dressed as at Halloween. Such Halloween Costumes as Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface and Ghostface can be worn. As there are many slasher movie characters, students have plenty of choices. In fact, if many students are attending the same party, they could each dress as individual characters.
