Being one of the most multicultural cities in the world, Sydney has plenty to offer the many foodies of the world. It’s possible to find cuisine to suit any taste or interest and with an ever-growing population, you will be sure to find what you are looking for. Once you are done looking for vacation homes in Sydney maybe your next search should be where to find the best food in the city. Having tried and tested many of the restaurants in Sydney I have put together my pick of some of the best places to eat in the city. Some of these might not have the best food available in Sydney but they offer a host of other options including some of the best views, proximity to some of the tourist hotspots and a great atmosphere for any visitor to the establishment. So, while trying not to get too hungry while reading this post here is my selection of the top locations to eat in the city.
Sydney tower:
For one of the most scenic meals in the city and the only panoramic view possible, the Sydney tower is the only option in town. This building is the second largest observation tower in the Southern hemisphere. A meal here is the perfect location for any visor to Sydney. Ideal for groups or individuals the food here is second to the views provided by the tower.
Standing at 309mtrs the Sydney tower is a huge tourist attraction in the city, easily accessible from the Pitt Street mall, the tower is open to the public, however, reservations may be needed for the restaurant during busy periods.
The tower is split into four sections, three being various dining and event areas and the fourth being the 360 observation deck. If you are coming to dine, it’s not necessary to visit the observation deck as the views from the diners are sufficient, at least I thought so.
Iceberg dining room and bar:
If the city skyline isn’t enough for you then the Ice berg dining rooms view of Bondi should fulfil your needs. Focusing primarily on Italian food the Icebergs location and beautiful backdrop is a great location to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the amazing views offered over Bondi beach.
This is the perfect location to unwind and get away from the crowds at the beach. This restaurant offers a host of food and drinks options both day and night, it is especially popular for couples and family gatherings.
With an open terrace, swimming pool, stunning views and amazing food the Iceberg dining room and bar is a must visit for anyone who visits Bondi beach. Along the boardwalk in Bondi, you will find dozens of other restaurants if the Iceberg is not for you.
Hurricanes Grill:
For the meat lovers among you, there is no better option in Sydney than Hurricanes Grill located on the top floor of Darling harbour shopping centre. This restaurant offers some of the best and largest options of grilled meat in Sydney.
When visiting on the weekend it is necessary to reserve a table, otherwise, you will be stuck in the long ques of people who have decided too late to dine out at this stunning restaurant. With views of Darling Harbour and Pyrmont bridge, the restaurant also offers a nice backdrop. If you are lucky you will catch a glimpse of the weekly Saturday night fireworks display in the harbour.
This is a great location for families and friends to enjoy a fulfilling and enjoyable meal. Veggie options are also available although they will more than likely be inadequate compared to the many other options available on the menu.
Darling Harbour has many other food options if the hurricane grill isn’t what you are looking for. Check out the other restaurants for deals and the freshest of fish options. Everything from Brazilian to Chinese is offered around the harbour so you will have no trouble finding something for you.
Aria restaurant:
For some of the best food in the city and with the best views of Sydney harbour, none are better than the Aria restaurant, located at the foot of the Sydney Opera house, this restaurant is best visited at sunset for amazing views and a chance to see the harbour bridge being lit up. Throughout the week you will find this area theming with tourist and diners alike. It’s not necessary to reserve a table as the area is quite spacious, however, for special occasions, I would call ahead just to be sure. Surprisingly affordable given its location the ARIA restaurant is popular both with tourists and locals alike.
Be sure to take a stroll around the Opera house, the botanic gardens and circular quay while you are in the area. It is one of the most popular and stunning locations in the city. The botanic gardens offer a leisurely stroll which makes you feel as though you have left the city behind. It’s also possible to grab a ferry to Manly beach if you have time on your side.
These are just a small selection of some of Sydney’s best and most scenic restaurants. For other options, be sure to check out China town for the widest selection of Asian cuisine and many of the other locations already mentioned above for the location which is best for you. Just remember to book ahead during busy periods so you’re not disappointed.
