Last year I decided to undergo a procedure that I had wanted for years which was a neck lift. I spent a great deal of time looking around Raleigh,NC for the right clinic and I finally settled on the clinic of Dr. Adam Stein Raleigh, NC resident and one of the country’s best plastic surgeons. The star reviews that I had read online weren’t wrong and in my view Dr. Adam Stein is certainly one of the best that there is. After my experience in the Stein Plastic Surgery I thought that I would share with you answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about this procedure.
What is a Neck Lift?
A neck lift is a cosmetic procedure which helps the patient to improve the appearance of their neck. The goal here is to give the patient a more elegant and smooth neck which is free from skin flaps or fat deposits.
How Do They Do It?
To give you the best results the surgeon will address what kind of neck you have now, and what kind of neck appearance you are aiming for, in order to assess how they will carry out the procedure. There are two main ways of completing this surgery which is either a platysmaplasty or an SMAS-Platysma lift. The difference between the two is that the latter will lift and tighten the neck, whereas the former will re-align the neck and its muscles.
Will You Get Scars?
The short answer is yes, you will have some small scars on your neck after the procedure but over a short amount of time these will be completely unnoticeable. In fact part of the reason why I went to see the star surgeon that is Dr. Adam Stein, was because the better the surgeon you have, the less scars you will get.
Recovery Time?
The recovery time of a neck lift will be no longer than 4 weeks, during which time you will need to take it easy but you will still be able to move about and go back to work in around 2 weeks.
How Long Do Results Last?
Generally speaking, and again depending on what surgeon you use, a neck lift will last between 10 and 15 years. After this time the skin will start too move again and fat deposits will continue to appear in the neck. Symptoms that the neck lift is ‘wearing off’ can be seen after around 9 or 10 years.
Cost?
As with all cosmetic surgeries the costs can vary wildly depending on where you are having it done, who your surgeon is and whether or not there are other factors to consider such as health issues. Have a quick search online to find out the average cost of a procedure such as this in your area, and then make sure that you find a surgeon who is charging competitive prices.
